Born on April 15, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia, John was a devoted husband, father, and friend who lived his life with kindness, integrity, and an unwavering sense of humor.

A lifelong learner and avid outdoorsman, John found joy in the simple things—long hikes through the Blue Ridge Mountains, working in his vegetable garden, and sharing stories with friends over a warm cup of coffee. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Environmental Science, John built a 35-year career in conservation, working tirelessly to protect Virginia’s natural beauty. He believed deeply in the power of community and was always the first to lend a helping hand, whether volunteering at local food banks or mentoring students pursuing environmental studies.

Above all, John was a family man. He cherished his wife of 45 years, Susan, and found his greatest pride in his two children, Emma and James, and his four grandchildren.
